Rivals has confirmed that Mike Warchol, editor of WashingtonPreps.com, passed away Sunday night.
Andrew Micheal Warchol passed away at the age of 35 Sunday night at his home in Vancouver, Washington.
While working for Rivals, Mike was an integral part of the Northwest operation. Besides publishing WashingtonPreps.com, he assisted several other publishers at HuskyDigest, CougZone and DuckSportsAuthority.
He took a lot of pride in his family, his daughter’s softball team for which he coached back-to-back District 4 championships, his friends, the Cubs and the Peanuts gang!
Mike is survived by his wife Kimberlee and their three children.
Mike was a good friend and he will be missed.
This is tragic and shocking news to all of us I am sure. Mike was a great guy and most certainly will be missed. I have had the chance to work with Mike for over a year and a half, met him on several occassions and had several meals at NIKE camps and Junior Days and drove him all over Washington on my one trip… I am at a loss for words.

Rivals.com Conference Editor and Producer
I personally considered Mike a friend, having met him several times since 2003 and trading numerous emails and IMs. Despite his persistence in ranking Meridian way too high in pre-season picks, Mike knew his WA sports stuff and was very dedicated to his site, for all the right reasons. I will miss him.
Mike’s wife, “Mrs. Mike,” has posted the following to the WaPreps 4A football board:
I’m sorry this took so long…
To all of you who knew Mike I thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Most of you all know me as “Mrs. Mike” and I was going to post something yesterday but I just couldn’t.
Mike loved this website. He had so many dreams of what he could make it and for those of you who know, he took this site from nothing and made it a huge success with lots of love and lots of his time. Believe it or not, even though he put thousands of hours into this site, it wasn’t a “real” job for him… he loved doing it. I also think a lot of you know he probably would have posted and done video for nothing more than the pleasure of meeting amazing athletes and coaches and other sports writers.
There has been a memorial account set up at Washington Mutual for anyone who wishses to make a donation to help with everything that still needs to be done.
We still don’t have a final answer from the medical examiner what actually happened. It was either something with his heart or some kind of seizure. Either way, it’s evident he went quickly and with no pain. And I know it wouldn’t be a surprise to any of you to know that he passed away in his comfy bed.
Thanks again for all your support. You all were another part of his extended family and I know he will be missed.
Kim “Mrs. Mike”
